COURSE DESCRIPTION
40+ Hour Basic Mounted Law Enforcement and Civilian Posse Course, # 2021-2
Suncoast Equine's Mounted Law Enforcement Training Programs is conducting its popular 40+ hour Basic Mounted Law Enforcement and Civilian Posse Course at their facility in Webster, Florida, June 12th, 13th, 26th, and 27th, 2021. This course is intended for law enforcement officers and civilians who are new to mounted law enforcement service. This course will satisfy the basic mounted training prerequisite of most law enforcement agencies and civilian equestrian support organizations. For agencies who have a mandatory retraining requirement, many mounted officers and civilian support members use this course as a refresher to meet that retraining requirement. The curriculum consists of classroom instruction, as well as practical training both on and off horseback, totaling 40+ hours.
All participants who attend the entire course will be presented with a Certificate of Attendance, but only those who successfully pass the final written examination and practical assessments will be presented with a Certificate of Proficiency.

All instruction is supervised by graduates of the University of Louisville - Southern Police Institute's Mounted Law Enforcement Instructor Course. Participation in this course is by advance registration only. To reserve your place in this class, it is recommend that you register early.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is intended for law enforcement officers, and civilians (18 and older) who are new to mounted law enforcement or civilian equestrian support service. If you are in need of a refresher course to meet your agency's retraining requirement, or to simply hone the skills of yourself or your equine partner, this is your opportunity. Participation is limited to only those individuals who are sworn or civilian members of a law enforcement or other governmental agency. The student must provide proof that his or her participation is approved by the agency and covered by worker compensation insurance while participating in the course. Although helpful, participants need not have any prior equestrian experience. This course is considered by some to be somewhat physically challenging. Participant should be in reasonably good health and without any physical or medical condition that could be worsened by the activities of the class, or that might otherwise create a risk to the participant or others. Students should be able to communicate clearly and effectively.

COURSE SCHEDULE
Students will report to the classroom without their horses at 8 AM on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at which time students will be provided with their schedule for the remainder of the week. Most students arrive the day before to familiarize themselves with the facility, and to stable their horses. The course will conclude with graduation at the end of the day on June 27th, 2021.
TUITION AND FEES

Advanced payment in full or a government purchase order will reserve your place in the class.
